Have you seen heaven?

Have you seen heaven touch earth? Some say it never happens. Some say it rarely happens. Some say it happens every day in a million ways.

I read about Moses this morning in Exodus 34:

29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the LORD had given him on Mount Sinai.

33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. 34 But whenever he entered the LORD's presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the LORD.

So Moses was literally glowing after hanging out with God. But is this experience completely foreign to us? I say no. True, we may not see the day to day miracles as those who walked with Jesus. But I say heaven is all around, and all the more as we tune in to God's voice and works.

I see heaven when leaves bud and grass slurps rain. In the thunder and in the roar of Niagara Falls.

I see heaven in a baby's face and in a toddler's snuggle. I see heaven when a teenager leans into loving boundaries. When a college student finds love.

I see heaven when friends gently pray for one another and the Holy Spirit attends to surgery over body and soul.

I see heaven in the compassionate eyes of a wind-blown face. In the leathery commitment to stay.

I see heaven as children become gracious leaders. When icy hearts melt. In forgiveness and new life.

I'd like to glow more. I want to know Jesus and carry him more purely to my world. I see heaven as God accepts me exactly as I am but continues to build me into more.

How do you see heaven breaking in to your day-to-day?
